UTF-8 Saved the World… mostly.

It’s always wonderful to hear the story behind the technology. This video explains some of the challenges and pitfalls of the burgeoning information era. The American standard ASCII (American Standard Computer Information Interchange) while inventive and easy was not standard outside the US. As a matter of fact everyone created their own standard. And thus started the race to the bottom. Then along came UTF-8!
